What Would You Add to Our Ice Cream Atlas?

I don’t know about where you are, but it is HOT here in Cleveland! Judging by the weather maps, it looks like we’re not alone.

webersSo, I thought I’d share today about our Ice Cream Atlas.

On our wedding day, the guestbook consisted of an atlas and an invitation to contribute favorite ice cream shops the world over. It’s really fun to flip through and dream about future trips near and far! And of course, I’m always in the business of collecting recommendations. So, I thought I’d ask you, what you’d add to the atlas if you had the chance?

Leave a comment down below with your favorite place and what makes it so great!

Cleveland: An Ice Cream Town

I’ll start things off with my recommendations in the Cleveland area. Many cities have an iconic food tied to them…but for Cleveland, with the exception of good pierogis and corned beef, there isn’t one food that people think of when they think of this city. It wasn’t till I moved away that it struck me as odd that this place does not have a more far and wide reputation for its ice cream! Because Cleveland certainly knows how to do ice cream! And it’s not just a summer time phenomenon – Clevelanders keep many of these places in business all year round.

To get you started on an ice cream tour of the city, I present to you my five must-tries to get you on your way.

This summer I’ve been getting requests from friends planning trips to D.C. for suggestions. So it seemed a good time to pull together a list of my best recommendations for all of you, as well!

When my husband got a job in D.C. a few years ago, it seemed like everyone I met in the city told me it wouldn’t be long before I stopped going to all the museums and events right down the street. Determined to NOT let that happen to me, my mantra quickly became: “Pretend you’re a tourist for as long as possible”.

Make Way For Strangers

January 15, 2016

strangers

Last night at dinner, we were swapping stories with friends about recent, memorable interactions with strangers. And so, I wanted to share a few thoughts about strangers today that I’ve been pondering lately. Especially in the times we live, where a double-whammy of decorum and fear can keep us from engaging with the people that we meet when we’re walkin’ down the street.

It’s Friday, Make Some Fancy Popcorn!

January 8, 2016

It’s Friday!

And I hope you have some rest and rejuvenation planned this weekend.

If it’s rainy and chilly where you are, like it is here today, perhaps that includes curling up on your couch tonight and watching a movie you’ve been meaning to see.

While you’re at it, might I suggest taking your popcorn game to the next level?

Ten times cheaper than a bag of Doritos, and that much healthier too, I vote we bring back popcorn as a go-to snack.

Planning for Raspberry Festivals (and such)

November 16, 2015

plannerMany people in my life think I am spontaneous.

They are mistaken and it is understandable.

I am a last-minute person. That’s for darn sure. Which is basically a little bit nicer way of saying I procrastinate and am usually running 5-10 minutes late. I don’t even have kids.
