I don’t know about you…but there have been some seasons in my life where I’ve just felt kind of OLD.
Not the elegant kind of “old” that I would love to be someday — with the wisdom that comes only with years, the memoir-worthy canon of life stories, and that lovely, soft, pearlescent hair I desperately hope to inherit from my grandmother’s family tree.
No. I am talking about a feeling, not an age. That raggedy, uninspired, hackneyed, flat and washed-up kind of old. The kind that in the natural course of events you’d expect to happen to a pair of shoes, but you would never wish upon a person.
You know what I would wish on every person? Spritely-ness. The word “spritely” means full of life. And I love that there is a word for that.
For those of us who don’t always feel spritely… who find ourselves in ruts from time to time, feeling like the days are passing us by, or who are up against some challenging circumstances, I hope this can be a place for you to be encouraged to keep at a life that’s full of hope, curiosity, adventure, and rich relationships all your livelong days.
